6 December - Advent Prose, Verse 2

Yesterday - Up - Tomorrow

I played the first verse of the Advent Prose on 1 December. Advent, like Lent in the spring, is a time of preparation (for Christmas, as Lent is for Good Friday and Easter).

Given this, it's not surprising that Advent shares Lent's themes of taking stock, soul-searching, and asking forgiveness.

Drop down, O heavens, from above,
and let the skies pour down righteousness.

We have sinned, and are as an unclean thing,
And we all do fade as a leaf:
And our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away:
Thou hast hid thy face from us:
And hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

Drop down, O heavens, from above,
and let the skies pour down righteousness.
